I would like to knit a toy monkey pattern in the round but it's written as flat. Do I need to change anything in the pattern in order to knit it on dpns? The pattern is on Knitted Toy Box website, titled Monkey Moo. The forum won't allow me to post the link.

From a quick look at the pattern, it looks like you should just be able to knit in the round. In fact, the designer suggested this to avoid seaming.
For those portions that are in garter stitch, your odd numbered rows would be purled instead of knitted. For those portions in stockinette stitch, your odd numbered rows would be knit instead of purled.
