Rectangular OPENWORK Shawl to Knit

Yarnovers create the lacy openwork stitch in this rectangular shawl. It's a terrific cover-up for all seasons, and it's easy too.

MATERIALS
Red Heart® “Soft YarnTM” (Art E728)
medium weight

[5 ounces, 256 yards
(140 grams, 234 meters) per ball]:
#9520 Seafoam - 4 balls
Knitting Needles, size 10 (6 mm) or size needed for gauge
Yarn needle

GAUGE: In pattern,
18 sts and 22 rows = 4" (10 cm)
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

SHAWL

Cast on 88 sts.

Row 1 (Wrong side): * K2 tog, YO twice, K2 tog; repeat from * across.

Row 2: * K1, (K1, P1) in the 2 YO'ss from Row 1, K1; repeat from * across.

Row 3: K2, * K2 tog, YO twice, K2 tog; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, K2.Row 4: K2, * K1, (K1, P1) in the 2 YO's from Row 3, K1; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, K2.

Repeat Rows 1-4 for pattern until piece measures approximately 68" (172.5 cm) from cast on edge or to desired length, ending by working Row 4. Bind off all sts. Weave in yarn ends.
