Tips and Sharing: New Crocheters & Knitters

fabrics construction

Dear everyone,

I just started working in textile sector and have couple questions.
I would like someone to explain me how to determine which construction of fabric has better quality.
for example:
22x10/40x36 or
25x10/40x36
this is construction of 2 different 100% cotton flannel bedsheets. Which one is better and why? Only difference is 22 and 25. I think these numbers stand for thread thickness, right? I f so which is better from them two, 22 or 25? Is 22 thicker from 25 or other way around?
40x36 are wrap and weft count, right?

Pattern help. New crocheter

Here is pattern. I think I messed up. It is not making even holes as I am doing it. Do I attach the big rectangle to the sc chain first. I attached the small and it does not seem r ight
Can't I just make 2 rectangles, join them and the sc the neck opening?

New to forum

Hello to everyone on the forum. I am happy to be here with you! I learned to knit over 40 years ago, but only did a couple of simple projects. I tried to go back to it about 20 years ago, but was very busy with my life and couldn't seem to stay focused. Now I am retired and my husband and I live full time in our motorhome. I have decided that now is the time to go back to knitting; partly because I really enjoyed it for the short time I did it years ago, I need a creative hobby that doesn't take up a lot of room, and I don't want to start on something that I have never done before.

Michaels Open House -

I was thrilled to receive the email about the coming Open House in September and Warm up America EvI en in November - however I would like to see the individual store being able to pick from two dates - since I will be a new instructor at two locations, I would like to be able to attend at both stores - As it stands now, I would only be able to be at one. Can something be done to change this?

Changing from crochet to knitting within a pattern.

I have been crocheting for a very long time.... however, I have recently taught myself how to knit... just the basics. I have a beautiful dress pattern that I would like to try... But it has an unusual twist... part of it is crocheted and part of it is knitted. The instructions are very clear that you do not cut the yarn and to pick up stitches on the knitting needles then change back to the crochet hook.... Can any one explain to me how to do this.....????

Certified Instructors Program

Hi all,
I filled out the application for the CIP a few weeks go but never heard back, so I applied again the other day and I haven't heard anything. I am really excited about the program. Does that mean my application wasn't accepted? Does it just take awhile to hear back?
Thanks,
Jess

Crocheting Afghan Using Bulky Yarm

I have been crocheting for many years but I would consider myself just a beginner as I have trouble trying to understand patterns unless they are shown to me.  Youtube has helped a lot but I find this site very helpful as well as you show how to do stitches with photos.  I would like to learn more stitches so that I could make more afghans and/or other work.I am in the middle of making a crochet afghan using bulky yarn.  I haven't seen anything on the internet about  this so I think it is quite unusual.  It is difficult to work with once the afghan begins to grow but I enjoy doing it.
