Hello I am new to knitting and have just started an intermediate pattern for a baby blanket and I don't believe the stitches are adding up for me.

Row 1 is K1,yo,ssk,k7[k8,k2tog,yo,k1,yo,ssk,k7]6 times,k7,k2tog,yo,k1

The pattern is supposed to be worked over 141 sts but I am adding it up as 155 stitches.Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong.Thanks
