First, to answer your question, just lay the yarn over your rigt needle. The point of the right needle will be facing away from you. The position of yarn and needles is exactly the same as if you were going to start a purl row. But instead of inserting your needle into the old stitch as if to purl, you take the tip around and insert in standard knitting position.
Oddly enough this is a frequent problem for beginners who make that yo without meaning to.
I've been knitting for many years now and am currently working on a sweater for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. You can never start too early. I am ready to block the sweater and a question came to mind. How do you block? Do you block each individual piece before sewing or put the whole piece together and then block.

Hi,
I'm just about to finish a baby sweater and the pattern says to top sew the raglan edges of the sleeves to the back and front panels.
Can someone tell me what top sewing is and how to do it?
Cheers,
Melissa

Your post will probably go unanswered. Please repost as a new topic and make a reference to the archived post (supply the topic name and original poster). I went back 10 pages and most of the others who answer questions here won't go back that far.

Hello,
I want to knit a washable, sleeveless shell, but not of cotton. I just finished one in cotton, and it lacks drape and isn't form fitting enough.
Which yarn type do you recommend? viscose and nylon is what my ready wear is, but it is such a fine gauge. I think that wouldl be difficult to knit as fishing line.
Do you have a pattern recommendation? I have knitted socks, hats and sweaters. I am able to read patterns.
Thanks.

My first time using a chart and I am lost. I'm not sure how to handle the two colors. Can anyone help me? Have looked at other sites but still am confused. Don't want to strand the yarn as this will be for a baby.
